Anamneses

Anamneses is an art installation that builds on the themes first chronicled in Paradise Lost & Found--a longform creative nonfiction piece about Leigh's experience growing up in the home where her mother was raised before her. Both works explore storytelling, human relationships to objects, the compulsion to collect, and the simultaneous joys and pain of living surrounded by memories of those we have held most dear. Anamneses uses a chaotic grouping of lists, quippy musings, anecdotes and stream-of-conscienceness-type observations type observations that fit together as a puzzle to tell a complex story. Viewers are invited to delve in deeply or skip from piece to piece as they feel called. The work was displayed at Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, Netherlands in May of 2014.
